• Jäger alert!!

Good evening y’all and welcome to shayorepublic.com where the art of consuming alcohol is fully explored and explained in extremely vivid detail leaving little or nothing to the imagination. Now today we are going to speak about a certain green bottle that is spoken about a lot in Hollywood. It's of German origin and it is also a digestif made with 56 herbs and spices at a strength of 35% alcohol by volume. The name of this magnum opus is Jägermeister. The Jägermeister will have you seeing sounds and smelling colors. Now since it's a digestif it is taken after meals. A digestif is basically any alcoholic beverage served after a meal, to aid digestion. When served after a coffee course, it could be called "pousse-cafe". Hope no one is wondering if digestifs can go after a meal of pounded yam with one mad soup but let me give you some examples of digestifs as to kinda answer your question. lol.

· Brandy (Cognac, Armagnac)

· Eaux de vie (Schnaps, fruit brandies)

· Fortified wines (Sweet Sherry. vermouth)

· Liqueurs bitter or sweet (Jägermeister, Irish Mist, Malort, Mirto etc)

· Distilled liquor’s (Tequila, Whisky)

oh so that's that, but in many countries people drink alcoholic beverages at lunch and dinner. studies have found that when food is eaten before drinking alcohol, alcohol absorption is reduced and the rate at which alcohol is eliminated from the blood is increased. So if I drink alcohol while eating I should use this idea when I want to open a buka. So I take it from this that if I was to soak garri for instance (it is just an example) would a shot of schnapps aid digestion? All these white people sef didn't even consider us when they are making all these their deductions...chai. Anyway back to the topic the Jägermeister consists of 56 herbs, fruits, roots and spices, including citrus peel, licorice, anise, poppy seeds, saffron, ginger, juniper berries and ginseng. Yeah I believe that’s the same ginseng that chinko put in tea so it’s healthy. These ingredients are ground then steeped in water and alcohol for 2-3 days. Afterward this mixture is filtered and stored in oak barrels for about a year. After which the liqueur is filtered again, then mixed with sugar, caramel and alcohol. Does this mean it’s healthy? Now we know what we are drinking how do we drink it.

· A shot glass of Jägermeister dropped into a glass of Red Bull energy drink makes a cocktail called a Jagerbomb.

· A Surfer on Acid is made with equal parts of Jägermeister, Malibu Rum, and pineapple juice.

· A Bob Dylan is a shot of Jägermeister with Surge.

· The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse is a shot made with equal parts Jägermeister, Rumple Minze, Goldschlager and Bacardi 151

There are many other ways to maximize the Jaeger experience. yeah I coined that word myself. so my fellow alcohol enthusiasts, enjoy and have a drunken experience. Have a great weekend and don’t forget to share this with your fellow shayo buddies. Peace!!!
• While they're looking for Johnny, I'll be drinking Johnnie

So on the radio they decided to play Johnny by Yemi Alade, apart from the fact that her music totally sucks now due to lack of lyrics that song was a banger then I felt like a glass of whisky and Johnnie Walker came to mind, and then I decided to write about it. Today is Saturday and indeed it is a very good day to get plastered if you know what I mean. So to kick it off let’s describe the forms it comes in shall we? They have different labels; labels are what they're called. I guess the red label should be the most common. Welcome to shayorepublic.com the only place where you can be assured of the quality of information you get concerning alcohol in general. There are quite a few actually like Red Label, Black Label, Double black label, Green Label, Blue Label, Gold Label, Platinum Label and others. Now this drink is some classic piece of art. It's kind of like a liquid Picasso painting and that there isn't an exaggeration. The Red Label which i have said before and believe to be the most common has a lotta fakes. And dare i say it is now my least favorite. Each blend is different in smoothness and taste and awesomeness. Will give a few of the label’s a brief description in a bit.

· Red Label: a 75 proof (40% ABV) blend of 35 grain and malt whiskies. It is intended for making mixed drinks. According to some dude William Manchester this was the favorite scotch of Winston Churchill, who mixed it with soda. You must of at least read about Winston Churchill unless you really shouldn't be drinking alcohol, just saying. Red Label has been reported to be the former U.S. Vice president Dick Cheney's drink of choice.

· Black Label: a (40% ABV) blend of about 40 whiskies, each aged at least 12 years. Caol Ila and Talisker are the dominating single malts in this blend. This drink was the favorite of journalist Christopher Hitchens, as seen in Blade Runner.

· Green Label: a (43% ABV) whisky, this variety is a blended malt, meaning it is made just from single-malts with no grain whisky added. Green Label uses predominantly four malts "drawn from the four corners of Scotland" Each of the malts (Talisker, Linkwood, Cragganmore, and Caol Ila) were selected but the blender for balance, with each malt whisky matured for a minimum of 15 years.

· Gold Label: a (40% ABV) blend of over 15 single malts, particularly Clynelish. Gold Label is commonly bottled at 15 or 18 years and usually labelled "The Centenary blend" In 2013, it was replaced with a No Age Statement (NAS) blend, labelled "Gold Label Reserve". The bottle and labelling of those two Gold Label offerings look very similar but taste different although some might argue and say different.

· Platinum Label: a (40% ABV) private blend- aged 18 years to replace the original Gold Label in the Asian market, and sold alongside Gold Label Reserve.

· Blue Label: the premium (40-43% ABV) blend with no age statement. Johnnie Walker Blue Label, also known as Max Walker, is blended to recreate the character and taste of some of the earliest whisky blends created in the 19th century. Bottles are numbered serially and sod in a silk-lined box accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. It's one of the most expensive blended Scotches on the market, with prices in the range of US $174-$450. For a bottle of alcohol? How much is that in Naira sef, chai, Money will sha come, *deep sigh*. On top Shayo..

You know the saying that goes with this drink yeah? The whole Johnnie Walker keep walking; I honestly wonder how they came up with that. All these drinks are available at different shops near you or you could go online to jumai or konga or even myshayo.com and get order your favorite alcoholic drinks and kill yourself by yourself all in the safety of your own home. No qualms. Help a friend become a better alcoholic today, tell someone to log on to shayorepublic.com. Let us become better drunkards in unison. It's always more fun that way don't you think? Had fun reading this? Did you enjoy the article? Don’t do that alone let others in on this awesomeness, share..
• The Cream-Liqueur Challenge: Amarula VS Baileys!!!

As a greatful alcoholic it is said to be almost customary to first fill the cap of the bottle of alcohol purchased and first pour it on the floor, for the gods. I always personally felt that was a waste of alcohol but I'm a weirdo so... Come one come all, welcome once again to shayorepublic.com where we teach you how to be a refined and reveered alcoholic. Today's article is about our favourite two cream liqueur's namely Amarula and Baileys. Creamy liqueur? Yum! Baileys irish cream is an Irish cream whiskey-and cream-based liqueur, made by Gilbeys of Ireland. The trademark is currently owned by Diageo and it has an alcohol content of 17% by volume. Now as for Amarula, it is also a cream liqueur from South Africa made with sugar, cream and the fruit of the African marula tree (Sclerocarya birrea) which is also locally called the Elephant tree or the marriage tree. i have no idea why, so don't ask. It also has 17% alcohol by volume. Irish cream generally tastes really good it is very smooth hence easy to down and not realize it's alcohol until you're a few glasses in. Okay so quick history lesson alright, Amarula was first marketed by Southern Liqueur Company of South Africa (the current trademark owners and wholly owned subsidiary of Distell Group Limited) as a liqueur in September 1989. Baileys Irish Cream was created by Gilbeys of Ireland, a division of International Distillers & Vintners. The process of finding a product began in 1971 and it was introduced in 1974 as the first Irish cream on the market. So apparently Baileys came first before Amarula. They both taste similar to be honest but not the same in any way. ok i know that might sound kinda confusing but let me describe it a little, they are both thick because of the cream and are very smooth. Yeah Baileys has this thing where it makes your eyes roll back, yes, take it from me and yes, go taste it yourself. Amarula is also awesome with no weird aftertaste. Both drinks go down easy and have low alcohol percentage which allows "the more the merrier" mentality. Both of these Irish cream liqueurs have many ways in which they can be taken, all depends on your preference though. Here are some Amarula recipes;
⦁ African Brew
The African Brew is a blend of banana, chocolate ice cream, Amarula cream liqueur and of cours some ice served in a chilled wine glass
⦁ Amarula French Toast
The Amarula French Toast is a brown colored drink made up of egg white, milk, brown sugar, chocolate and Amarula cream liqueur in a chocolate-lined rocks glass. Sounds pretty fantastic to me!
⦁ Amarula Coffee
The Amarula Coffee is a brown colored drink made from Amarula cream liqueur. coffee and chocolate, and it iserved in a warm coffee mug or glass.
⦁ Amarula Chocolate Martini
The Amarula Chocolate Martini is made of Amarula cream liqueur, light cream and Nutella (yeah i mean Nutella!!) and it is cream in color and served chilled in a cocktail glass.
⦁ Amarula Brandy and Cream
The Amarula Brandy and Cream is a cream colored drink made from brandy, light cream, chocolate and Amarula cream liqueur and it served with ice on a rocks glass.
Enought talk about Amarula don't you think let's gist about some Baileys mixtures. Now imma give a brief list of concoctions of Baileys i found on the web

⦁ Baileys Banana Blaster
1 oz. Baileys Irish cream, 1 oz. Malibu Rum and half an oz. of banana liqueur or half banana blend with ice until smooth.
⦁ Baileys Coconut Frappe
2 oz. Baileys irish cream, 1 oz. Malibu Rum, 2 oz. milk. Shake or blend until frothy; pour over ice and garnish with toasted coconut. Serves two. It could also be served in a cocktail glass just incase you feel like spicing it up a little.
⦁ Baileys Eggnog
1 oz. Baileys Irish Cream, half an oz. Irish Whiskey, 1 medium egg, 2 cups of milk, dash nutmeg mix with cracked ice in a shaker, strain, and serve in a glass. Sprinkle nutmeg on top. Serves 4.
⦁ Baileys French Dream
1 or half an oz. Baileys Irish Cream, half an oz. Raspberry liqueur, 2 oz. Half & Half, 4 oz. ice cubes. Blend for 30 seconds and serve.
Now i personally, don't know why someone will be drinking nutmeg while not under the influence of some designer drug but i had my aspiring bartender friend mix it up for me and it tastes awesome. Alcohol always does, so don't judge me, let's move on. I didn't throw in Magnum and the rest of the cream liquers only God know why but hey.... These are some of the best mixtures these drinks have and you could always google them or just come to shayorepublic and get all the information on all the best drinks and just exactly what to expect. Awesomeness. I don't think there's a bottle of alcohol i have personally said i didn't like. Probably chocholate flavoured vodka which i even then realized became a work of art once a malt drink is added to the mixture. As for Baileys i have had it with gin and it still was awesome just not as thick but packed more of a punch because of the rise in alcohol by volume. Why don't you guys unleash the inner bartender and experiment, have a fellow alcoholic around ( it's always good to have a second opinion ) and mix away produce the best new flavours fathomable and enjoy. Which do you personally prefer though? Amarula or Baileys??
• An interlude with the badgal.....

Hey! This is the nimber one blog shayorepublic.com where we bond the alcoholic community and help nurture young alcoholic tendencies till they're functioning alcoholics like us. Today we're not talking about any alcoholic drink but i sure as fuck would lovea a sip of her. Sorry for being inappropriate there *clears throat*.

We at Shayorepublic interacted some days back with Madeleine Ugochi Enyi and she says she's popular for her craft in meme creation and funny ass tweets as she runs weekly hashtags for her followers. She's a Digital and Social Media Strategist that can be consulted for social media management.
Apart from the memes, she does follow trains which help her followers gain more followers. She gives out airtime quite often after you pass her crazy quizzes of course. Madeleine is a student at the University of Lagos and we asked if she has issues balancing her school with her social media prescence and she said it's already part of her so it doesn't affect her academics at all in anyway. You go girl!

After school she said she'd like to be an entrepreneur for buisness' she has intrests in like fashion and makeup. Madeleine also had some parting words for us:
"Remain focused and believe in whatever it is you're doing, no matter your gender or the condition in which you find yourself. Believe in yourself"
I don't know why but i feel i have heard this quote somehwere before...maybe i just watch too many movies. By the way you should totally follow her on her social media handles which are;

• Some of our favourite mixtures....

Okay this is just a quick article y'all, not talking about any drink in particular but about drinking etiquette in general. It indeed has been a while. So let's call this drinking etiquette class one or 101 or whatever, whichever you'd prefer so let's start this shall we? I hope someone out there in the world has tried some of these mixtrues i am about to take my time to describe. Now some of these could be described as cocktails in truth but i prefer the term concoctions because it sounds like something on Africa Magic which i do not watch by the way, just had to get that out of the way.
Yeah back to the topic, some of these don't qualify for cocktail and using the word concoction wouldn't be politically correct to use on here so we go with mixtures. Come one, Come all, welcome to shayorepublic.com where we make the occassional alcoholic a better person by making you embrace complete inebriation. Now here is a brief list of things that should be on your bucket list, the average person should've at least heard of some of these to be honest.

1. Smirnoff Raspberry mixed with Vanilla ice cream. I had this at a friends birthday and ironically enough the said friend doesm't drink but for some reason is very comfortable around drunk people and encourages it somewhat. Everyone has their issues right? It tasted like alcoholic ice cream. It was different very smooth and sweet. I should give it a name. i am taking suggestions.

2. Yoghurt and Bull gin. Now it might depend on the brand of yoghurt but the one i used was Ojoma yoghurt and it was very awesome. Now the brand of gin might also depend but i will be more than willing to mix it up some other time. Wouldn't you? Now this mixture could be called a very local version of Baileys, after all at the time i did this i was in a freshman in college so don't judge me alright?

3. Orijin Bitters and Maltina. I believe i have this on good authority when i say that people don't really like mixing their bitters dfrinks. I wonder why though because of all the new exciting flavours that could be found just by one simple mixture. This mixture almost tasted like Legend the stout. I have never been a fan of Beer but this made me almost appreciate them brewers only because of the similarity in taste.

`
4. Smirnoff Guarana and Masters Choice. Now this is very awesome. I had this mixture well over a few times and i could almost say that it changed my life but some people might think of that as just some exaggerated truth. Now this taste is something wonderful and nice. It has this addictive feeling. It could be mistaken for some sorta champagne when properly mixed and if possible bottled. Wait....i just had an idea.

5. Chocolate Flavoured Vodka and Maltina. If you're a feverent reader of this site then you must of seen this already in one of my previous articles. Now the two types of chocolate flavoured vodka i have done this with are Imperial Knights and Magic Moments. Chocolate flavoured vodka honestly isn't my thing. I would prefer to drink vodka plain and cold. But a mix up is very welcome from time to time. I don't know if this goes with other brands of malt drinks but this is the only one i have tried and recommend. Be a good drunkard, try this and enjoy yourself.

6. Vodka and Vijuu milk. When next you think of having a drink of Vijuu milk just add a little vodka in it and enjoy the benefits. Either the chocolate or the pineapple flavour.it tastes really awesome and it is very portable since you just top up the Vijuu bottle with vodka and walk around and no one is the wiser. You could be smiling around like a complete idiot and people will be thinking you're going crazy but you most definitely will be thanking me later.

7. Vodka and Hollandia Yoghurt. Vodka again. There was a time in my life when my two favourite things were vodka and chocolate, good times. I have added a few more things now like writing, listening to music, insulting people online, ecetera. This is also another amazing mixture to be honest, it also depends on the brand of vodka. Different brands different outcomes. Mix and enjoy.

8. Zobo and Gin. The drink of champions. Have you ever spiked your zobo before? The outcome is genius kinda like me. I am allowed to blow my own trumpet am i not? And please know that it is anatomically impossible for me to blow my own trumpet incase you're thinking in that direction....moving on..

9. Star Radler and Black Label. This is also another genius combo. Star radler has the lowest alcohol content i have seen but when mixed with Johnnie Walker's black label well...it tastes unique and my words to describe fail me at the moment. And coming from someone that's said to be good with them that says a lot.

Those are just a few of the many concotions or mixtures or cocktails that i know, y'all should send in yours..let's see which is the most absurd..lmao...have a fun rest of the week.
