    As a greatful alcoholic it is said to be almost customary to first fill the cap of the bottle of alcohol purchased and first pour it on the floor, for the gods. I always personally felt that was a waste of alcohol but I'm a weirdo so... Come one come all, welcome once again to shayorepublic.com where we teach you how to be a refined and reveered alcoholic. Today's article is about our favourite two cream liqueur's namely Amarula and Baileys. Creamy liqueur? Yum! Baileys irish cream is an Irish cream whiskey-and cream-based liqueur, made by Gilbeys of Ireland. The trademark is currently owned by Diageo and it has an alcohol content of 17% by volume. Now as for Amarula, it is also a cream liqueur from South Africa made with sugar, cream and the fruit of the African marula tree (Sclerocarya birrea) which is also locally called the Elephant tree or the marriage tree. i have no idea why, so don't ask. It also has 17% alcohol by volume. Irish cream generally tastes really good it is very smooth hence easy to down and not realize it's alcohol until you're a few glasses in. Okay so quick history lesson alright, Amarula was first marketed by Southern Liqueur Company of South Africa (the current trademark owners and wholly owned subsidiary of Distell Group Limited) as a liqueur in September 1989. Baileys Irish Cream was created by Gilbeys of Ireland, a division of International Distillers & Vintners. The process of finding a product began in 1971 and it was introduced in 1974 as the first Irish cream on the market. So apparently Baileys came first before Amarula. They both taste similar to be honest but not the same in any way. ok i know that might sound kinda confusing but let me describe it a little, they are both thick because of the cream and are very smooth. Yeah Baileys has this thing where it makes your eyes roll back, yes, take it from me and yes, go taste it yourself. Amarula is also awesome with no weird aftertaste. Both drinks go down easy and have low alcohol percentage which allows "the more the merrier" mentality. Both of these Irish cream liqueurs have many ways in which they can be taken, all depends on your preference though. Here are some Amarula recipes;
    ⦁ African Brew
The African Brew is a blend of banana, chocolate ice cream, Amarula cream liqueur and of cours some ice served in a chilled wine glass
    ⦁ Amarula French Toast
The Amarula French Toast is a brown colored drink made up of egg white, milk, brown sugar, chocolate and Amarula cream liqueur in a chocolate-lined rocks glass. Sounds pretty fantastic to me!
    ⦁ Amarula Coffee
The Amarula Coffee is a brown colored drink made from Amarula cream liqueur. coffee and chocolate, and it iserved in a warm coffee mug or glass.
    ⦁ Amarula Chocolate Martini
The Amarula Chocolate Martini is made of Amarula cream liqueur, light cream and Nutella (yeah i mean Nutella!!) and it is cream in color and served chilled in a cocktail glass.
    ⦁ Amarula Brandy and Cream
The Amarula Brandy and Cream is a cream colored drink made from brandy, light cream, chocolate and Amarula cream liqueur and it served with ice on a rocks glass.
Enought talk about Amarula don't you think let's gist about some Baileys mixtures. Now imma give a brief list of concoctions of Baileys i found on the web

    ⦁ Baileys Banana Blaster
1 oz. Baileys Irish cream, 1 oz. Malibu Rum and half an oz. of banana liqueur or half banana blend with ice until smooth.
    ⦁ Baileys Coconut Frappe
2 oz. Baileys irish cream, 1 oz. Malibu Rum, 2 oz. milk. Shake or blend until frothy; pour over ice and garnish with toasted coconut. Serves two. It could also be served in a cocktail glass just incase you feel like spicing it up a little.
    ⦁ Baileys Eggnog
1 oz. Baileys Irish Cream, half an oz. Irish Whiskey, 1 medium egg, 2 cups of milk, dash nutmeg mix with cracked ice in a shaker, strain, and serve in a glass. Sprinkle nutmeg on top. Serves 4.
    ⦁ Baileys French Dream
1 or half an oz. Baileys Irish Cream, half an oz. Raspberry liqueur, 2 oz. Half & Half, 4 oz. ice cubes. Blend for 30 seconds and serve.
Now i personally, don't know why someone will be drinking nutmeg while not under the influence of some designer drug but i had my aspiring bartender friend mix it up for me and it tastes awesome. Alcohol always does, so don't judge me, let's move on. I didn't throw in Magnum and the rest of the cream liquers only God know why but hey.... These are some of the best mixtures these drinks have and you could always google them or just come to shayorepublic and get all the information on all the best drinks and just exactly what to expect. Awesomeness. I don't think there's a bottle of alcohol i have personally said i didn't like. Probably chocholate flavoured vodka which i even then realized became a work of art once a malt drink is added to the mixture. As for Baileys i have had it with gin and it still was awesome just not as thick but packed more of a punch because of the rise in alcohol by volume. Why don't you guys unleash the inner bartender and experiment, have a fellow alcoholic around ( it's always good to have a second opinion ) and mix away produce the best new flavours fathomable and enjoy. Which do you personally prefer though? Amarula or Baileys??
